Hello and nice to meet you! Every couple of weeks I will write an article about something related to online poker. Today I want to talk about Tiger Gaming, an online poker site on the Action Poker network.
Tiger Gaming is a nice site with pleasing graphics and a clean interface. There is a large deposit bonus to earn and you will find the customer support quite accommodating. Tiger Gaming is unique in that it offers a number of special games that you won’t find in any other poker room. These include the "poker" game of Guts (very loosely called poker), the classic card game Big 2, as well as Chinese Poker and Pan. This isn’t a casino so there’s no blackjack download here, but the other games are so fun that you won’t want to waste your time with casino games anymore.
In addition to the unique games mentioned, Tiger Gaming has Texas Hold’em in both No Limit and Limit, Omaha and 7 Card Stud (in theory).
Tiger Gaming has recently been advertising aggressively in Canada, telling consumers to download free poker in commercials airing on TSN, Rogers Sportsnet and The Score. Presumably they considered Canada full of potential poker players. Because of this, many of the players on the site are Canadian, and they don’t have lot of experience at the game.
Traffic can be bad at times, especially at 50NL+ and 1/2+. If you’re new to money poker sites, though, finding a table at $2 NL up to $25 NL is usually very easy. You will usually have three to six 25NL tables to choose from, for example. Finding a NL50 table is harder. You’ll be lucky to have two 50NL tables to choose from. Finding no-limit games higher than this is next to impossible. 100NL pretty much never runs, and when it does, there’s only one table. While the site does offer stakes up to $1000NL I have never seen the game actually happen, so players at these stakes will need to go play Daniels Room poker.
I will just go ahead and tell you that the traffic at the other games is pretty awful. 7 Card Stud is offered but it never runs. Omaha is almost as bad. There may be one table of Omaha going on, and it’s usually Pot Limit with 20 cent blinds. If your game of choice is not Texas Holdem, you should instead consider a PokerStars download. As for the exotic games, you’ll almost for sure find them running during peak hours. Since Tiger is the only site you can find games like this, the player base is more reliable. The classic gambling game of Guts often runs two or three tables at once, with minimum bets of between 10 and 50 cents.
Overall, the action on Tiger Gaming is not good but if you are a lower stakes player, it is not bad either. If you are a beginner at the game, you should first build a bankroll at Tiger and then plan to move to a Full Tilt Poker download when you want to play higher stakes.
